You already bought a domain from Namecheap, Bluehost, Google domains, GoDaddy or another domain hosting company and now you want to move your domain to your Namehero server?
In this blog post, I am going to walk you through the whole process of moving your domain to Namehero safely without breaking your website or losing your domain.
1.) To start, there are 2 things to do:
- You need to unlock your domain
- You need to get your domain authority code (EPP)
You need to log into your current domain registrar (The place where your domain currently is) Go to your domain manager. Find your domain and go to security settings. You should see the option to unlock your domain and you should also see the option to get your Transfer Authorization/EPP Code.
Click on the option to unlock your domain, and click on the option to get your Transfer Authorization/EPP Code.(The EPP Code should be emailed to you)
2.) Transfer your domain to NameHero
Go to https://www.namehero.com/domains. Click on the “transfer domain” option, Type in the name of the domain you want to transfer to your Namehero server.
Click on Transfer. And now click on Order.
A pop-up will now appear and ask you for the Authorization/EPP code. Enter the code and click confirm.
You will now have the option to also buy DNS Management, ID Protection and Email Forwarding. If you can’t afford it, don’t buy it.
Scroll down to Nameservers and make sure the nameservers are as follows:
- ns1.namehero.com
- ns2.namehero.com
Click on the “Continue” button.
3.) Pay for your domain
You are now at the “cart” page. On the right of your screen you can see how much the domain will cost you for how many years. (example, $15.98 USD for 1yr)
Scroll down and click on “Existing Customer Login”, This is where you need to enter your Namehero login details (Email and Password). Click on login and wait…
Scroll down, select your payment method and fill in your payment details.
Tick the terms of service checkbox and click on the “checkout” button.
Done! You should now see a message that says “order received”.
Your domain will be transferred usually within 5-7 working days.
You can find out if the domain is transferred by logging into your NameHero client area and viewing your domains. If it says “status pending”, then you still have to wait for the domain to be transferred.
Don’t have time to wait for your domain to be transferred? Contact your current domain registrar and ask them to “manually approve the transfer process“. I did this and my domain was moved in 5 minutes.
