How to fix Google Domain Not Receiving Emails

You bought your domain from Google but when you try to send emails to this domain, it does not work. You are not receiving any emails in your Gmail inbox.

Don’t worry. In this blog post, I will show you how to fix it in 10 minutes!

The problem is your MX records.

You need to activate your Gmail by creating new  MX records.

Here is what you need to do:

Step #1: Google Workspace setup tool

You need to use the Google Workspace setup tool.

Click on this link to open it in a new tab: https://admin.google.com/u/0/ac/signup/setup/v2/gettingstarted

Choose your domain and enter the password to log in.

Now you should see a screen that looks something like this:

Step #2: Business Email

If you have not created a business email for your domain, Do that now.

Click on the “Create new users” tab

Click on “Add new user”

Fill in the details and click “Add new user”. Done!

Step #3: Log into host register

Log into the host of your domain.

(A website needs a host and a domain. Google sells domains but they do not sell hosting)

WARNING: Before you move forward, please keep your Google Workspace setup tool opened in another tab. Do not close it!

From your hosting account, log in to your cPanel.

Search for “MX records”

If you can not find it, search for “zone editor” (NameHero and HostGator users)

WARNING: It’s time to be careful. You can break your website permanently by not doing exactly what I tell you. Follow my instructions carefully.

You should see a list of your domains, Go to the domain and click on “manage”

Now you want to filter the records to ONLY show MX records. So click on the “MX filter” option.

You should see a list of records that have the type “MX”. Delete all of these records.

If you do not see any MX records, then continue on to the next step.

Step #4: MX Records

Now you are going to create new MX records so that your domain can receive emails.

Click on “add record”, You want to make sure the type is “MX”.

Fill in the details below:

Priority: 1

Destination: ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM

Click on “save record”.

Congratulations, you have just created your first MX record. Now you just have to create four more MX records to make your email work properly.

Create 4 more MX records with these details: 

Priority: 5

Destination: ALT1.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM

Priority: 5

Destination: ALT2.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM

Priority: 10

Destination: ALT3.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM

Priority: 10

Destination: ALT4.ASPMX.L.GOOGLE.COM

Step #5: Activate Gmail

Now go back to the tab where you are logged in to your google workspace and click on “Activate Gmail”

Google will check if the records you just created are correct and Voila! Lol…your domain will be able to receive emails in 48 hours max.

During the next 48 hours, you can log into your domain Gmail to test it.
